祝：大学院合格！ 投げる研究者へ、山本歩さん/Congratulations: Pitching Researcher, Ayumu Yamamoto-san, 2006 HWB Alumnus
祝：大学院合格！ 投げる研究者へ、山本歩さん 西武ライオンズの元投手で、2006年のHWBにも参加した山本歩さんが、2011年4月から、母校・関西学院大・大学院にて化学研究者としての道を進むことになりました。 山本さんは、2005年大学・社会人ドラフト５巡目で西武ライオンズに入団。準硬式野球部出身、またツーシームを操る技巧派であり、理工学部化学学科出身という文武両道な、どれをとってもプロ野球界には希有な存在でもありました。2007年には一軍登板を果たしますが、ひじの手術などもあり、2009年には戦力外通告を受けて退団。その後、球団のファームスタッフとして、チームにも帯同しながら、多忙の中で勉強を進め、ついにこの2011年3月に母校の大学院入試に合格したのです。 山本さんによると、有機化学におけるプロセス化学を大学院で研究されるとのことです。簡単に言えば、薬品などの化学物質を効率的に大量かつ安価に生成する研究と聞きました。元プロ野球選手がどんな化学研究者となるのか、とても興味深いですね。 Congratulations!! : Pitching Researcher, Ayumu Yamamoto-san, 2006 HWB Alumnus Ayumu Yamamoto, former pitcher of Seibu Lions, 2006 HWB Alumunus, is now on the road as a chemical researcher in the Kwansei Gakuin University, the Graduate School coming April, 2011. Mr.Yamamoto joined the Seibu Lions by the 5th order of the NPB draft in 2005. Following are unusual and very minority in the professional baseball player, playing semi-hardball, pitching technician using the two seam, and double major of baseball sports field and study in chemical department of the university. He pitched for the major team in his first carrier in 2007, however, elbow operations after that, finally retired in 2009. As a staff, regardless of very busy following the farm team of the Seibu Lions, he finally passed the entry exam of the Graduate School in March, 2011. "The Process Chemistry in the Organic Chemistry" is his research topics in the graduate school. What kind of chemical researcher does a former professional baseball player become, and it is very interesting though it seems to be a research that efficiently generates the chemical such as the medicines to be brief.

21日に開催されるチャンピオンシップ（決勝戦）にフェニック・デザートドッグも出場（＝地域優勝）が決まりましたので、次の登板はそこになる予定です。
ロッテからハワイに派遣され、その後注目されながらも解雇。アメリカで再び挑戦中の田中投手を今後も応援していきたいと思います。
